Megan Vermaak

My name is Megan Vermaak and I am an illustrator based in a beautiful town in South Africa, where I have lived since birth. I love to illustrate fun, quirky, sometimes silly, animal-like characters for children. I enjoy bringing these characters to life through a mixture of digital techniques and more traditional mediums, such as watercolors.

What ignites your creativity every time? Browsing through the children’s picture book section at the public library.

Creative pursuit outside of illustration? I love gardening. I definitely do not have green fingers, but I love to plant sunflowers (my favourite flower) and it has become a tradition of mine each year. In 2021 one of my sunflowers grew 3m tall!
